We are huge fans of the duo behind Adventurefaktory their platform encompasses adventure, travel, fitness and active sports, health and wellness. With an Instagram account which is not only creative but provides a sense of escapism.
CSPR Group got to chat to the entrepreneurs Mitch and Thuymi about their aspirational travel diaries which they have managed to turn into a successful business.
Can you explain more about Adventurefaktory
We have been an online platform for more than 3 years now and have writers on 6 different continents. We focus on active travel around the world and helping people enjoy their holidays a bit differently by challenging themselves on doing activities that are a bit more adrenaline junky style!
Who are Mitch and Thuymi and do you work in Dubai?
We have chosen occupations that give us the opportunity to travel as often as possible. Mitch works as a Sports Teacher at a big international school whilst Thuymi has moved into freelancing and works with international and local clients in Strategic Planning. She can work on her laptop from anywhere with an internet connection.
Thuymi you are a fabulous photographer which has made you an ambassador for both Canon and GoPro cameras, how do you decide which camera to use to capture your moments?
Actually, we also have a drone to manage now too hahaha!
Usually, we think about the final use. We sell the photography to magazines, brands and other types of publications, hence if we know it will be to be sold, we would use the Canon. But these days, with the GoPro, you can shoot RAW, so have been using it more and more to be able to shoot photos! It is also very handy in a situation on which we would not bring the camera, i.e. kayaking, climbing, etc. The GoPro is now an essential in our filmmaking and photography gear, as it is so conveniently light but also doesn’t fail in quality!
You love adventure and new challenges. What has been your favourite adventure so far and the most challenging?
By far our most challenging adventure was Mountain bike riding down a road known as “Death Road” in Bolis climbing have been more than 2000 deaths there so to fly down it with just bikes was certainly a rush of adrenaline.
How many countries have you visited to date
Combined we have been to 64 countries, with a few more to get to before the end of the year.
Which country sticks in your mind as somewhere you had no expectations.
We were not too sure what to expect when we visited Jordan, the home of one of the 7 Wonders of the world, Petra. We were blown away by the hospitality and the food, not to mention the culture too.
What is the most exciting adventure you have been on in the UAE
One of the most exciting things we have done here is climbing at the Via Ferrata in Jebel Jais (RAK), the highest point in the UAE. It was certainly an adrenaline rush and so easy to get there from Dubai.
What advice do you have for aspiring travelers who want to make a living out of traveling the globe?
Trust us when we say it is not all romantic and beautiful beaches. There are hours of editing, emails and often you have to sacrifice plenty of other moments in your life. It is not for everyone, but if you truly want to do it, make sure you have great photography/editing/coding skills. Why? To create value an actual service you can offer to brands and destinations.
What’s your Favourite travel blog and Instagram account?
They are good travel blogger friends of ours twomonkeystravelgroup.com – we had the chance to meet them and they are such a lovely couple. They know what they are doing and hustle hard. For Instagram we cannot get enough of Sam_Kolder!
